Freelancers & IT exporters

PSEB registration for freelancers and IT companies

The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) registers IT and IT-enabled service exporters. Registered freelancers and companies can keep their export income at the reduced final tax rate, as long as payments come through proper banking channels.

Register me with PSEB

Why register with PSEB

  • Reduced tax rate on IT export income (0.25% at the time of writing — confirm each year)
  • Proof that your foreign income is legitimate export earnings
  • Easier banking and remittance documentation
  • Required for some government incentives for IT exporters

Who can register

  • Individual freelancers (Upwork, Fiverr, direct clients)
  • Call centres and IT-enabled service providers
  • Software houses and IT companies

What you usually need

  • CNIC and active NTN
  • Proof of IT work — freelance profile, contracts or invoices
  • Remittance proofs (PRCs) from your bank
  • Companies: SECP incorporation documents

After registration

Your annual return must still be filed, with export income matched to your PRCs. We reconcile your remittances so the reduced rate is applied correctly.

Common questions

Do I need an NTN before PSEB?

Yes. We can do both together.

Does PSEB registration need renewing?

Yes, it is renewed periodically. We remind our clients when it is due.

What is a PRC?

A Proceeds Realisation Certificate from your bank showing foreign money received. It is key evidence for the reduced export rate.
